Admission Criteria

Freshman-Seniors

  • Overall High School GPA/average of a “B” or better (80+ high school average or a 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale), no exceptions.

  • Must satisfy TSI requirements relevant to the course(s) to be taken (please check TSI charts for the NEW criteria).

Application Process

What is required for a student’s registration packet?

  1. Online Application (New Student’s Only) – “How to Apply” instructions are attached

  • Student must use full legal name when completing the online application.

  • Student will now be asked to select a major of interest when completing the online application.

   2. FERPA Release Form – Must be filled out and signed by the student.

  • Must be filled out in blue or black ink, and we will not accept a copy of the completed form.

   3. Registration/Permission Form

  • Each student must be given a copy of the most recent Dual Enrollment Student Guidelines

  • A student can now take up to 18 SCH a semester without further approval.  However, they must satisfy TSI requirements

   4. Official High School Transcript

  • Official high school transcripts only need to be submitted for new students.  However, if a returning student has new test scores (that were not submitted in previous semesters) that are provided on a high school transcript (STAAR, PSAT, PLAN, ACT, or SAT) an official transcript will need to be submitted if those scores are to be used for dual credit eligibility.

5)      Shot Records (only students physically taking courses on the Texas A&M-Kingsville campus)

6)      Official Qualifying Test Scores (Please see attached TSI Chart for the new student eligibility requirements.)

7)      Official College Transcripts (if applicable) (please see attached counselors checklist for submission options)

o   As noted on the counselor’s checklist, an unofficial copy can be submitted for review.  However, we will not register the student  until their official copy has been received prior to the first class day, if applicable.  This component of the packet is very important, and in some cases may provide additional TSI eligibility for a student as well as help us ensure students are not retaking classes.
